I Want to Ride My Bicycle, I Want to Ride My Bike

Weekly Assignment: Monochrome Color

I’m giving myself weekly photo assignments as an exercise to force myself to keep shooting.  The goal for these assignments is to only post photos I’ve taken within two weeks of the post date.  You can view the weekly assignments archives or view the full list on the Weekly Assignment page.

I Want to Ride My Bicycle, I Want to Ride My Bike

This week’s title comes from lyrics of the Queen song Bicycle Race.  I always think of the chorus whenever I see or ride a bike.  I was down by DC’s Titanic Memorial and a group cyclists stopped by for a break.  (SIDENOTE: I didn’t know DC had a Titanic Memorial until I took a walking tour of southwest DC).  This photo lent itself perfectly to the black & white treatment.

Stadium-Armory Station

Weekly Assignment: Repetition

I’m giving myself weekly photo assignments as an exercise to force myself to keep shooting.  The goal for these assignments is to only post photos I’ve taken within two weeks of the post date.  You can view the weekly assignments archives or view the full list on the Weekly Assignment page.

Stadium-Armory Station

The Washington, DC subway system takes it’s design cues from the 1960s.  It certainly doesn’t have the turn of the century charm of Boston’s or New York’s system, but it gets me from point A to B on the occasional time I use it.

Fiesta DC 2013

Written by , Posted in Canon 7D, Dance, Washington DC

Each year Fiesta DC celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct 15) with a parade of nations. I love the different traditional costumes especially the more colorful ones.  You can view more photos from the event on my Google+ album.

FDR Memorial Waterfall Room Three

Written by , Posted in Samsung Galaxy EK-GC110, Washington DC, Weekly Assignment

Weekly Assignment: Low Light

This is my first weekly assignment!  I’m giving myself weekly photo assignments as an exercise to force myself to keep shooting.  The goal for these assignments is to only post photos I’ve taken within two weeks of the post date.  You can view the weekly assignments by using the category tag or view the full list on the Weekly Assignment page.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Waterfall

The FDR Memorial is organized in four outdoor “rooms” with each room representing a term in his presidency.  Each room features a water feature, and the waterfall below is in room three (the World World II years).  The scattered boulders are meant to represent the chaotic and destruction of the time.
