I love great music and artists who can sing live. After 30 years New Edition still got it!!! Sitting only five rows from the stage I sang along to all their classics including: Candy Girl, Cool It Now, Mr. Telephone Man, Can You Stand the Rain, If It Isn’t Love, and Is This the End.
Of course Bobby, excuse me, Bad Ass Bobby Brown, was being Bobby, but the crowd went crazy for My Prerogative and Tenderoni. Later in the show Bobby threw his baseball cap in the audience, which literally fell into my friend Geoff’s hands.
The women (and at least one man!) went crazy for Washington DC native Johnny Gill. Especially after he jumped in the audience. My, My, My!!!
Later the fellas changed into more casual track suits (of course representing Celtic’s green), and performed more uptempo songs including Bell Biv DeVoe’s Poison. You know it’s a great concert when the audience can recite the words to every song. New Edition ended the concert by thanking the fans for 30 years of support and welcoming them Home Again.
