They Call Her J-I-L-L-S-C-O-T-T…

… Ms. Jill Scott representing North Philly!  I first heard of Jill Scott on “You Got Me” from The Roots’ “Come Alive” album.  My freshman year at Howard she dropped “Who Is Jill Scott, Vol 1” album, and I’ve been a fan ever since.  I’ve now seen her in concert four times with a unique experience each time.  I love  artists who excel in live performances, and Jill always takes it to the next level.

Midway through the show she switched it up and put a wig on…

Kem was one of three opening acts.  Admittedly, I don’t know his music beyond his radio hits, but I would definitely see him in concert again.

Brass Connection

Written by , Posted in Black & White, Canon 7D, Music, R&B-Soul, Urban Landscape, Washington DC

I was heading to the subway near the Verizon Center and came upon Brass Connection.  I’m from New Orleans so I have high standards for brass bands because the musicians in the French Quarters are really talented.

I have to admit that Brass Connection was really good!  Unfortunately I didn’t get any video of the performance, but apparently they are in the Gallery Place and Dupont Circle areas often.

This little guy was barely big enough to hold the trombone, but he’s already mastered the art of working the crowd.  At one point he started moonwalking.
